Love Letter Sunset Wedding in Rome

Carol and Colm's wedding at this elegant villa overlooking Rome was so beautiful from start to finish.  Carol's little ring bearer nephew stole my heart completely, he was just so cute and did all his duties perfectly - with a perfectly timed nap in the church in between!

The couple sent thoughtful gifts and letters to each other's rooms the morning of the wedding. It was great that both were getting ready at the same venue as I could capture the quiet, emotional moment of each, reading their love letters on the morning of their wedding day. So romantic!

The villa was built as the summer residence for a bishop (they had the life didn't they!) and there is still a Monastery on the estate for a closed order. We got special permission to sneak in and have some photos on the grounds which was very cool! It was an evening ceremony so we were just out in time for sunset photos amongst the roman ruins in the villa gardens.

The sumptuous meal on the terrace overlooking the twinkling lights of Rome, was followed by a fabulous firework display the perfect fairytale backdrop to the cake cutting.

Setting the Scene of Your Destination Wedding

On the day of your wedding everything will pass you in the glimpse of an eye. So it is important that when you are having a destination wedding your photographer understands to do 'filler' shots which set the scene of where you have chosen to have your wedding. Your photos should bring back reminders of those glimpses! Here are some sample filler shots I did recently for a styled shoot in Santorini. As you can see, the photos create a 'feel' for the day before you even see a photo of you and your guests! :)

Santorini bridal Shoot

As my mother was a landscape artist and a wedding florist and my father a keen amateur photographer, I grew up surrounded by oil paints, darkroom equipment and bunches of exotic flowers in our bathtub. Maybe that explains why I love created beautiful wedding images in breathtaking landscapes!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Veronica Pavlova  in a stunning gown by @tara_lauren in Santorini, Greece.
